Matt Bain
Owner and DVM
Dr. Matt Bain is the dedicated owner and lead veterinarian at Southern Trails Vet. With five years of experience in veterinary medicine, Matt has devoted his career to improving the lives of pets. After graduating from veterinary school, he began his practice, quickly realizing his passion for providing high-quality, compassionate care.
Driven by a deep love for animals and a commitment to advancing veterinary medicine, Matt founded Southern Trails Vet to create a clinic that not only excels in medical standards but also fosters a stress-free environment for pets. His approach emphasizes building strong relationships with both pets and their owners, ensuring every visit is as comfortable and informative as possible.
In addition to his hands-on veterinary work, Matt serves as the president of the local veterinary medical association, advocating for science-backed care and community engagement. He believes in connecting with the community through educational events, online posts, and personalized pet care.
At home, Matt is a proud pet parent to Mr. Patches and Daisy, two 9-year-old cats he found under a shed during vet school. He also cares for Bunny, a 4-year-old special needs kitty, and Betty, a lively 2-year-old cat who keeps the household on its toes.
Outside the clinic, Matt enjoys mountain biking and watching movies, always striving for new adventures and cultural insights. A quirky fact about Matt? He loves board games and Dungeons and Dragons, bringing a touch of fun and strategy to his off-hours.
Dr. Bain is excited to welcome the community to Southern Trails Vet, where exceptional care and compassionate service go hand in hand.

Zoe Caldwell
Veterinary Technician
Zoe has loved animals for as long as she can remember, and becoming a veterinary technician felt like a natural fit. She finds purpose in helping pets when they need it most—and especially enjoys supporting new pet owners as they learn how to care for their furry (or scaly!) companions.
At home, Zoe shares her life with a bustling menagerie: 3 cats (Klaus, Leia, and Shady), 2 dogs (Mac and Tosh), 9 snakes, and 4 lizards. Reptile conventions and public training outings with her dogs are some of her favorite ways to spend free time.
A future dog conformation competitor and a passionate advocate for preventative care, Zoe has one big message for all pet owners: Use heartworm prevention!

Katelyn Powers
Veterinary Technician
Katelyn’s favorite part of the job is watching pets grow and improve over time, knowing she’s played a part in their health and happiness. Her own furry crew is full of personality: Hamilton, a loveable Great Dane with boundless energy; Sir Henry, the sweetest escape artist you’ll ever meet; Tucker, a spicy boy who loves his people fiercely; and Thomas, a cat who’s convinced he’s actually a dog.
If she could trade places with any animal for a day, Katelyn would choose a cat in the South—sunbathing, relaxing, and living the good life. When she’s not at work, you’ll find her reading (often devouring entire books in a single afternoon) and encouraging pet parents to invest in something she believes in deeply: pet insurance—especially while their pets are still young and healthy.
Her top message to every pet parent?
A healthy pet still needs a plan. Be proactive, be prepared—and yes, let them sunbathe sometimes.

Harrison Stahler
Veterinary Technician
He shares life with two adorable “chonks” of his own—undeniably cute and full of personality. If given the chance to be any animal, Harrison would choose a kangaroo, just for the joy of carrying around little kangaroos (and maybe a few surprise items) in a pouch.
When he’s not at work, he’s probably daydreaming about it—running SNAP tests, seeing healthy young pets thrive, or racking up five-star reviews. A rock enthusiast with a heart of gold, Harrison is also a big believer in pet insurance (and thinks senior wellness packages are pretty great, too).
His favorite truth to share with pet parents?
“They have little souls in there.”
And he treats every one of them like it.

Destinee Stover
Veterinary Technician
Destinee’s favorite moments at the clinic are split between the joyful chaos of puppy and kitten snuggles and the deeply rewarding experience of watching sick pets recover and thrive. At home, she’s a proud pet parent to a full crew: Mochi, a 3-year-old French Bulldog with big personality; Cinder, a playful 1-year-old domestic medium hair; Bruce, a wise 9.5-year-old longhair; and Oliver, a 5-year-old shorthaired snuggler.
If she could be any animal for a day? It’s a toss-up between a Frenchie (to live out her Zoomie dreams) and a Fennec Fox—her all-time favorite animal.
Destinee is passionate about preventive care and always encourages pet parents to consider pet insurance to help protect their furry family members. When she’s not in the clinic, you’ll likely find her curled up with a good book—and maybe quietly reminiscing about her high school days playing ten different musical instruments.
